Garden Plain High School

This is my fifth year of teaching agriculture at Garden Plain High School.  I’m excited that this school year we will offer an Agriscience, Plant & Soil Science, Animal Science, Food Science, Agriculture Mechanics, Exploratory Agriculture and Research in Agriculture class.  As this is the fifth year that we will be offering agriculture classes actually located at Garden Plain, I’m excited to see how the program continues to grow throughout the years.

After student teaching at Girard High School and graduating from Kansas State University, I accepted a position with Cargill in Ohio where I worked at a grain elevator.  While I enjoyed this opportunity, I was searching for what options I might have back in Kansas after getting engaged and married in the Summer of 2018.  I was thrilled when doors opened up, and I was able to accept the Ag. Teaching position at Garden Plain.  Agriculture Education and FFA have had a huge impact on my life.  With the experience of growing up in a family full of educators, I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with students in Agriculture and in the National FFA Organization.

I grew up with my parents and seven siblings near Soldier, Kansas.  We were also surrounded by a bunch of my extended family as well.  Family has always been very important to me, and it has been extremely exciting to get married in the Summer of 2018.  My wife and I have enjoyed welcoming our son, Clay, to our family in the Spring of 2021.  We have had a lot of fun getting settled in this area!

Growing up with a somewhat bigger family, I have always enjoyed activities and games.  I enjoy playing and watching sports (primarily football, basketball, and baseball), and taking part in any variety of outdoor activities and games.  I have enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee, disc-golf, running, and canoeing and kayaking, just to name a few.  I like to go fishing and hunting when I can.  I truly enjoy hanging out with family and friends, and have begun to appreciate more low-key types of enjoyment such as playing board games, reading books, or enjoying a night out around a campfire.
